Arsenal Eyeing Transfer for Champions League Star as Partey Replacement Despite Players Desire to Play for Liverpool

Arsenal's Potential Transfer Move

Arsenal is reportedly considering a transfer move for Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt. The midfielder showcased his talent against Premier League opposition when he scored in Dortmund's 2-0 Champions League victory over Newcastle on Tuesday.

Contemplating a Midfield Replacement

Arsenal may bring in Brandt as a replacement for Thomas Partey in midfield. Despite signing Declan Rice and Kai Havertz in the summer, concerns over Partey's injury record have prompted the Gunners to explore other options.

Competition for Brandt's Signature

Newcastle, managed by Eddie Howe, is also said to be interested in signing Brandt. However, Dortmund recently extended Brandt's contract until June 2026, reducing the pressure on them to sell in the January transfer window.

Brandt's Regret Over Not Joining Liverpool

Although Arsenal and Newcastle are potential destinations, Brandt has admitted that he regrets not joining Liverpool in 2017. In an interview with The Athletic, he mentioned that he had the opportunity to join Jurgen Klopp's team but felt the timing wasn't right. Brandt expressed his admiration for Klopp and his desire to play under him.
