UK PM Warns Pro-Palestine Protesters Not to Disrupt Remembrance Weekend

Prime Minister Orders Police to Crack Down on Signs of Trouble

Rishi Sunak, the UK Prime Minister, has issued a warning to pro-Palestine protesters, urging them not to disrupt Remembrance weekend. Sunak has ordered the police to take action against any signs of trouble, stating that organizing a protest march during this time is "provocative and disrespectful."

Fears of Disruption to Armistice Day Commemorations

There are concerns that tens of thousands of marchers calling for a Gaza ceasefire could disrupt Armistice Day commemorations for fallen heroes. The Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, attended by senior members of the Royal Family, and a two-minute silence will be held at 11am next Saturday.

PM Calls for Police Resources

Sunak has requested that the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, provide the police with all the necessary resources to prevent any disruption. This could include using powers to ban the protests if needed.

Met Police Chief Given Full Support

In a letter to the Metropolitan Police boss, Sir Mark Rowley, Sunak assured him that the government fully supports the use of all available powers to protect the sanctity of Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. New laws also enable the police to tackle protest tactics such as slow walking and locking oneself to buildings and highways.

Security Operation in Place

A "significant" security operation will be in place to prevent Palestinian demonstrators from disrupting Armistice Day, according to the Metropolitan Police. The force has met with organizers of a pro-Palestine group planning a "million march" in central London and assured the public that the march will not interfere with Remembrance events.

March Organizers Seek Gaza Ceasefire

The organizers of the pro-Palestine march are calling for Israel to declare a ceasefire in its conflict with Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
