Tory MPs warn PM against alienating right wing with new Cabinet

Tory MPs Miriam Cates and Danny Kruger have put Chancellor Rishi Sunak on notice in a letter to the Prime Minister. They warned against isolating right-wing MPs and voters with the fresh Cabinet appointments. Cates and Kruger accused the PM of abandoning voters who switched to the Conservatives in the last election in the hope of gaining support elsewhere. They also announced plans to launch a major fundraising drive to support the re-election of right-wing Tories.

Concerns over change in policy direction

The letter from Cates and Kruger expressed concerns about the reshuffle and its impact on the government's policy direction. They stated that the Conservative Party now appears to be moving away from the coalition of voters who brought them into power with a large majority in 2019. The MPs emphasized the importance of respecting mainstream British values and interests, defending borders and sovereignty, upholding modern attitudes, and supporting families and local communities.

New Conservative mission

The MPs also announced their intention to raise funds and recruit supporters to help New Conservative members in their election campaigns next year. The New Conservatives, who have around 24 MPs, campaign for reduced migration, stopping illegal boat crossings, and opposing "wokery" in Whitehall and schools.

Support for new ministers and PM

Despite their concerns, Cates and Kruger stated that they would welcome the new ministers to their posts and expressed confidence in their abilities. They also pledged their support to the Prime Minister himself, emphasizing their desire for Rishi Sunak's success.

Potential backlash from sacked Home Secretary

Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who was recently sacked, is reportedly preparing to release a "dossier of failure" regarding the government's efforts to stop illegal Channel crossings. Braverman claims to have evidence highlighting the shortcomings of Number 10's "stop the boats" policy. The release of this information may coincide with the Supreme Court's verdict on the legality of the Rwanda deportation plan.
