Surrey Police confirmed that a man was detained in Horley on Wednesday morning on suspicion of rape and possession of controlled substances. The man, who is Crispin Blunt, has been released on conditional police bail while further inquiries are conducted. The Conservative Party has declined to comment due to the ongoing police investigation.

Continued Controversy for the Conservative Party

This latest development adds to a series of scandals that have plagued the Conservative Party in recent times. Last week, former deputy chief whip Chris Pincher was forced to resign after allegations of groping in a private members club. In addition, Tory MP Peter Bone has been suspended from the House of Commons for six weeks for bullying and sexual misconduct. If a petition against him receives support from 10 percent of voters in his constituency, he could face being ousted from his position as an MP. Another Tory MP is also currently on bail in relation to sexual assault allegations.
