Sue Gray's Son Runs to Become a Labour MP

Sue Grays Son Runs to Become a Labour MP

Labour activist Liam Conlon seeks candidacy for Beckenham and Penge

Sue Gray, a former civil servant and current aide to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, is facing scrutiny as her son, Liam Conlon, runs to become the Labour MP for Beckenham and Penge in south London. This announcement follows previous claims that Conlon had been boasting about being "groomed" for a safe Labour seat.

Tory MPs criticize Gray's impartiality

Furious Tory MPs are questioning Gray's impartiality, given her son's political aspirations. Paul Bristow, a Tory MP, raised concerns about Gray's ability to remain impartial while her own flesh and blood seeks a seat in the next election. Gray had previously resigned from her role as a civil servant to work for Sir Keir Starmer's office.

Gray cleared by ethics watchdog

Westminster's ethics watchdog cleared Sue Gray of any wrongdoing in June, allowing her to take up her position at the Labour leader's office. The watchdog found no evidence of impartiality rules being violated.

Liam Conlon's previous ambitions

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Liam Conlon had been actively campaigning to unseat former Prime Minister Boris Johnson from his seat in Uxbridge. According to insiders, Conlon boasted about his mother's involvement in the Partygate probe and claimed to be groomed for a safe Labour seat.
