Scotland's Deputy First Minister Slammed for Being Late to Meet Princess Anne

Scotlands Deputy First Minister Slammed for Being Late to Meet Princess Anne

"Disrespectful" Delay

Deputy First Minister Shona Robison has faced backlash after arriving forty minutes late to an event with Princess Anne. Ms Robison was attending the opening of Aberdeen South Harbour on behalf of the Scottish Government last Friday, but is said to have kept over 300 guests waiting.

Making the Most of the Wait

While waiting for Ms Robison, Princess Anne used the extra time to engage in conversations with members of the public, going beyond her initial schedule.

Official Explanation

The Scottish Government stated that Ms Robison's delay was due to "urgent government business."

Strong Criticism

Scottish Tory MSP Douglas Lumsden expressed his disappointment, calling Ms Robison's behavior "completely disrespectful" and "quite disgraceful." He emphasized that the delay affected not only Princess Anne, but also all the guests in attendance.

Apology and Prior Notice

A spokesperson for the Scottish Government defended Ms Robison, stating that she was unavoidably delayed and had apologized to the event organizers. The speeches were not delayed, and the organizers had been informed beforehand.
