Rishi Sunak’s Personal Mobile Number Leaked Online as Social Media Trolls Publish Audio of Phone Ringing

PM’s Mobile Number Exposed

Rishi Sunak, the UK's Chancellor of the Exchequer, has fallen victim to a security breach as his personal mobile number has been leaked online. This incident comes as social media pranksters have gone as far as publishing audio of the phone ringing, along with the Prime Minister’s answerphone message responding.

Similar Incident to Boris Johnson

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred within the UK government. In fact, it was just two and a half years ago that Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister at the time, was forced to change his mobile number due to a similar online scare. Now, it seems that Rishi Sunak has faced a comparable situation.

Longstanding Use of the Number

SE has confirmed that the leaked mobile number is the same one Rishi Sunak has used for many years, even during his tenure as Chancellor and throughout last year's leadership election. However, reports suggest that he was given a new separate number when he assumed power a year ago. Despite this, the online video that surfaced on Sunday demonstrates that the number is still active.

WhatsApp Messages Unavailable for Covid Inquiry

Just last month, Mr. Sunak revealed that he was unable to provide certain WhatsApp messages to the Covid inquiry that were sent to and from this particular number. The reason being that he had not backed them up after changing phones multiple times.
