UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently shared a personal anecdote about his past, revealing that he once dressed up as Harry Potter for a Halloween party. Sunak recounted the story during an interview on ITV's This Morning with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
Love at First Spell
Sunak disclosed that the Halloween party was the first event he attended with his now-wife, Akshata Murty, during their time at university in America. He reminisced, saying, "The first time Akshata and I went to a party together, it was a Halloween party when we were in the States, and she went as a girl guide, and I went as Harry Potter."
Geek Chic
This revelation adds to Sunak's geeky public image, as he has previously admitted to being a superfan of Star Wars. The Prime Minister has even expressed a desire for a cameo role in the franchise. In his interview, Sunak also shared other personal preferences, such as his preference for Big Brother over I'm A Celebrity and his affinity for the Netflix Beckham documentary. When asked to choose between Taylor Swift and Britney Spears, Sunak sided with Swift. Additionally, he admitted to enjoying family time watching Barbie but favoring Oppenheimer as a better film.
A Smoke-Free PM
In another personal revelation, Sunak revealed that he has never smoked a cigarette, a fact that some may find surprising given his plans to raise the legal age for buying tobacco. However, the Prime Minister dismissed any significance to this revelation, stating, "It has absolutely no relevance to anything."
