The number of small boat migrants deported from Britain has seen a significant increase this year, according to internal Home Office statistics. In the first six months of 2023, a total of 628 crossers were deported, compared to just 382 in the entire year of 2022.
Albanians make up majority of deportations
Out of the total number of deportations, more than 500 were Albanians. This surge in Albanian deportations comes after the UK government signed a deal with the Eastern European nation to expedite the process of returning migrants.
Other nationalities also deported
In addition to Albanians, the period also saw the removal of 45 Iraqis, 17 Iranians, and 54 individuals from various other nationalities who entered the UK illegally.
Comparatively, in 2022, only 215 Albanians were deported, as per the Daily Mail's obtained statistics. In 2021, the number of small-boat migrants deported from Britain was a mere 28.
