Michael Gove Aims to Outlaw Four-Day Week for Councils

Gove Criticizes Slackers at Local Authorities

Michael Gove, the top Cabinet minister, has announced plans to ban councils from implementing a four-day week. In an interview with SE on Sunday, Gove discussed potential law changes to prevent what he calls "quiet quitting" by local authorities. He warned that councils adopting shorter work weeks could face funding cuts if they defy the ban. Gove argued that taxpayers deserve full services for their contributions and that the idea of slacking is unfair to hard-working individuals.

Gove Slams Labour and Keir Starmer

Gove didn't hold back in criticizing the Labour party and its leader Sir Keir Starmer. He accused Starmer of being "spineless and condescending" and suggested that he prioritizes pleasing the North London elite over making significant changes for the people. Gove criticized Starmer's stance on Brexit, claiming that he cannot be trusted due to his desire for closer ties with the European Union.

Gove's Concerns about Housing and Taxes

Gove expressed his determination to help more British citizens become homeowners and blamed wealthy foreign speculators for driving up property prices. He advocated for the introduction of a foreign property tax to ensure fairness. Additionally, Gove highlighted the need to address high immigration and taxes, stating that both areas need reform.

Gove's Thoughts on Boris Johnson and Lockdowns

Gove revealed that his relationship with former Prime Minister Boris Johnson is on the mend and he believes that Johnson could make a political comeback. He also expressed concerns about the impact of school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gove suggested that such closures have contributed to a rise in anti-social behavior and teenage knife crime.
