Labour Party Ties
The organiser of this weekend's Armistice Day anti-Israel march in London has been revealed to have worked for Sir Keir Starmer until recently. Ben Soffa, the Secretary of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, had also been the Labour Party's Head of Digital Organising. Labour sources confirmed that Soffa had moved on from the party in recent days, but his social media accounts still claimed his affiliation with the party. Sir Keir Starmer had previously warned Labour MPs against attending events organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
Palestine Solidarity Campaign
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) has been leading marches throughout the country against Israel's response to the October 7 attacks. Soffa has been listed as a director of the group since 2013. However, the PSC and Soffa have not responded to requests for comment regarding their involvement in the upcoming Armistice Day march.
Labour Frontbencher Quits
Shadow minister Imran Hussain resigned from the Labour Party over Sir Keir Starmer's refusal to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. He expressed deep concerns over the opposition leader's stance on the matter.
Rishi Sunak's Response
Chancellor Rishi Sunak criticized the pro-Palestine march on Armistice Day as disrespectful. However, he confirmed that the march would go ahead after a meeting with Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley. Sunak emphasized the importance of peaceful protest and stated that the police will ensure the march does not interfere with any remembrance events.
