Migrants Returning to Vessel
Illegal migrants will be moved back onto the Bibby Stockholm accommodation barge next week, following a recent outbreak of Legionnaires' disease. At a town hall meeting in Portland, Dorset, 38 migrants were informed of this decision after residents were forced to evacuate the barge two months ago.
Clear for Habitation
The giant ship has now been given the all clear for habitation again. All asylum seekers on board were placed in alternative accommodation once the outbreak was detected in the water.
Putting an End to Expensive Hotels
A Home Office source confirmed that migrants will be returning to the barge as part of the government's plan to end the use of expensive hotels for accommodating migrants. The source acknowledged the criticism from Labour and charitable organizations but remained determined to proceed with the plan.
Legionnaires' Disease and Its Transmission
Legionnaires' disease is a serious lung infection caused by Legionella bacteria. It is usually transmitted by inhaling small droplets of infected water and cannot be passed from person to person. While small amounts of the bacteria can be found in water sources like ponds and rivers, it multiplies quickly in environments such as air conditioning systems.

Home Secretary's Pledge
The decision to move migrants back onto the barge comes just one week after Home Secretary Suella Braverman pledged to do "whatever it takes" to end illegal migration in Britain. In her conference speech, she criticized opposition leader "Sir Keir take the knee Starmer" for weak border policies and dismissed concerns about uncontrolled immigration as mere accusations of racism.
