FAMILIES Face £2,200 Tax Hike if Keir Starmer Takes Power, Tory Warns

Tories Lagging Behind in Polls

Conservative party chairman Richard Holden has issued a warning that families could face a £2,200 tax increase per year if Sir Keir Starmer becomes the Prime Minister. According to Holden, this rise would be necessary to fund Labour's £28 billion green jobs plan. With the Tories currently trailing 20 points behind in the opinion polls, battle lines are being drawn ahead of the 2024 general election.

Investing Billions Requires Tax Increase

Holden argues that investing billions in Labour's green jobs plan would be impossible without increasing the basic rate of income tax from 20 to 25 per cent. The £2,200 figure is based on the average two-income household. Holden emphasizes that the British people will ultimately bear the cost of this tax hike.

Labour Denies Claims

Labour has vehemently denied Holden's claims. The party insists that under the Tories, the UK has experienced the highest tax burden since World War II. They argue that working people cannot afford another five years of high bills, mortgages, and taxes under the Conservative government.

Tax Sweeteners Expected in Upcoming Budget

Voters can expect more tax incentives in the upcoming Budget on March 6. This follows a National Insurance reduction set to take effect on Saturday.

Personal Attack on Labour Leader

Holden also launched a personal attack on Sir Keir Starmer, calling him a "shapeshifter." He accused Starmer of failing to stand up to Jeremy Corbyn while supporting every left-wing cause. This tactic is expected to be heavily used during the election campaign.

Labour MP Criticizes Starmer

Labour MP John Cruddas, in his new book, accuses Starmer of being detached from his own party. He finds it difficult to identify the purpose of a future Starmer government.
