TV lovers across the UK are in for a treat as the Channel 4 app returns to Freesat 4K TV boxes, allowing millions of viewers to watch their favorite shows on-demand once again. Previously known as All4, the popular platform was removed from Freesat boxes in 2018 due to a dispute over fees. However, the app has now been relaunched, joining other main apps such as BBC iPlayer and ITVX.
Access to over 16,000 hours of content
The return of the Channel 4 app means that viewers can enjoy over 16,000 hours of content, including beloved shows like Gogglebox, The Inbetweeners, Married at First Sight, and The Great British Bake Off. With the addition of the Channel 4 app, Freesat now offers a wide range of streaming options to its customers.
A major milestone for Freesat
Freesat is thrilled to reintroduce the Channel 4 app to its customers. Emily Doyle, Content Partnership Manager at Freesat, described the relaunch as a "significant milestone" in their mission to bring the very best content to viewers. Over the past two years, Freesat has successfully relaunched Channel 4 HD and its suite of music channels, completing the full Channel 4 offering on the platform.
Channel 4 emphasizes availability for viewers
Ensuring accessibility for viewers is of utmost importance to Channel 4. Karla Berry, Distribution and Platform Partnerships Leader at Channel 4, expressed their delight in seeing the Channel 4 app on Freesat's 4K TV Box. Berry added that viewers will have access to thousands of hours of "brilliant content," including The Great British Bake Off, Married At First Sight, and a wide variety of documentaries, dramas, and movies.

Upgrade required for older Freesat receivers
While the return of the Channel 4 app is exciting for many, it is important to note that older non-4K Freesat receivers are no longer directly supported. Viewers with older boxes will need to either upgrade their equipment or find alternative ways to access Channel 4 online. One option is to check if their smart TV has a Channel 4 app or to consider using a Fire TV Stick for streaming.
