Wycombe provide update on injured players after clash of heads

Wycombe Football Club has shared an update on Luke Leahy and Brandon Hanlan after they suffered serious injuries during a match against Stevenage.

Stretchered off the field

During the League One clash, both players had to be stretchered off the field due to their injuries. Hanlan required oxygen, while Leahy suffered a clash of heads.

Injuries explained

Hanlan, 26, sustained his injury in the first half of the match when he landed heavily after challenging for a ball with Stevenage player Carl Piergianni.

Leahy, 30, went down in the second half after receiving a blow to the head during an aerial duel for the ball.

Game stopped for medical attention

The match was interrupted for long periods as both players received medical attention on the field.

Players taken to hospital

Following their injuries, Leahy and Hanlan were both taken to the hospital for further checks.

Discharged from hospital

Wycombe Football Club has confirmed that both players have been discharged from the hospital and are now resting at home.

The club released a statement saying, "The club treats head injuries, in particular, with the utmost caution and we thank those who handled the situation with dignity and respect, and those who have sent well wishes."

Relief from fans

Fans expressed their relief on social media upon hearing the news of the players' discharge.

One fan commented, "Great news, wish them both a speedy recovery."

Another fan wrote, "Glad to hear they are both home. Worrying scenes yesterday! Hope they both make a speedy recovery."

Match result

Stevenage emerged as the winners of the game with a 1-0 scoreline. Jamie Reid scored the only goal of the match in the first half, which came in at 45+14' due to the long stoppage caused by Hanlan's injury.
