West Ham United is aiming to increase the capacity of London Stadium, making it the second largest stadium in the Premier League.
Expanding the venue
The London Stadium, which was originally built for the 2012 London Olympics, has been home to West Ham since 2016 when they moved away from Upton Park.
The club has plans to expand the stadium's capacity by an additional 5,500 seats.
Currently, the stadium is limited to a matchday capacity of 62,500 due to licensing regulations.

Last year, the stadium's capacity was increased to 68,013, but the extra seats remained unused by fans.
Agreement with stadium owners
West Ham has reportedly reached an "informal plan" agreement with the London Stadium owners, the London Legacy Development Corporation, to use the extra seats.
If formalized, the agreement would allow West Ham to offer 5,500 more seats on matchdays starting from the 2026-27 season.
However, the club's rent for the stadium will increase by £200,000, raising their annual payments from £3.5 million to £3.7 million.

Alterations needed
Before the capacity can be increased, some alterations will need to be made, including adding more catering and toilet facilities.
Second-largest stadium in the Premier League
With the increased capacity, West Ham would have the second-largest stadium in the Premier League, surpassing their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Manchester United's Old Trafford will remain the largest stadium in the Premier League, with a capacity of 74,310.
