Tyson Fury Could Retire Before Oleksandr Usyk Fight, Says George Groves

Retirement Decision Looms

Former boxer George Groves has suggested that Tyson Fury may retire before his upcoming showdown with Oleksandr Usyk. The two heavyweights are set to face off in a historic four-belt unification fight, but Groves is not convinced that Fury will go through with it.

Postponed Showdown

The fight, originally scheduled for December 23 in Saudi Arabia, was postponed following Fury's controversial split-decision win over Francis Ngannou. Fury, who was dropped in the third round, initially expected to announce his plans to fight Usyk after the bout. However, he chose not to jump back into training camp, leading to a two-month delay.

Retirement Speculation

In an interview with Boxing King Media, Groves stated that Fury might retire, citing the unexpected challenge he faced against Ngannou. Groves questioned whether Fury, at 35 years old and with a long list of achievements, really wants to take on the risk of losing to Usyk. He also suggested that a rematch with Ngannou is more likely.

Undefeated Fighters

Both Fury and Usyk enter the highly-anticipated fight with undefeated records. Fury has won 34 of his 35 bouts, with his only draw coming against Deontay Wilder. Usyk has a perfect record of 21 wins in his career.
