Scotland Eyeing Four Premier League Stars in Potential Poaching Move

Newcastle United Trio Consider Switching Allegiance

Scotland is reportedly preparing to make a move for four Premier League stars, potentially poaching them from under England's nose ahead of Euro 2024. Newcastle United players Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, and Tino Livramento, along with their teammate Elliot Anderson, are all said to be eligible for both Scotland and England.

Scotland Assistant Reveals the Targets

John Carver, assistant to Scotland manager Steve Clarke, revealed that the Scottish team has their eyes on the four Newcastle United players. Carver emphasized the importance of players wanting to be part of the Scottish journey, but acknowledged the need for the young players to focus on their careers at the club level first before making a decision.

Potential Swaps and Eligibility

Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon have yet to make senior appearances for England but have impressed at the youth level. On the other hand, Harvey Barnes has already earned a senior international cap for England. However, he remains eligible to switch his allegiance to Scotland if he becomes frustrated with his lack of opportunities with the England squad. Elliot Anderson, who has already represented Scotland at the youth level, would have to wait for England to show interest in him.

The Challenge of Convincing the Rising Stars

Carver acknowledged that convincing the four players to choose Scotland over England would not be easy. He highlighted the different circumstances of each player and suggested that England would likely make a strong push to secure their services. However, Carver also emphasized that there are many other talented players out there, and Scotland is always looking to improve.
