Roy Keane slams Bruno Fernandes and calls for Man Utd captaincy to be stripped

Former Manchester United star Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on Bruno Fernandes following the team's performance in the Manchester derby. The Red Devils were dominated by Manchester City, who secured an easy 3-0 win. Keane criticized Fernandes' captaincy and called for him to be stripped of the role.

Keane questions Fernandes' suitability as captain

In a post-match discussion on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher questioned Erik ten Hag's decision to make Fernandes the captain, saying "Bruno Fernandes should not be a captain." Keane echoed Carragher's sentiment, stating that Fernandes is not captain material and that the armband should be taken away from him.

Fernandes' behavior under scrutiny

Keane criticized Fernandes' behavior during the match, highlighting his constant whinging and moaning, as well as throwing his arms up in the air. Keane stated that such behavior is not acceptable and does not reflect the qualities of a captain. He urged the manager to make changes and take the captaincy off Fernandes.

Controversial decisions and defeat

The Manchester derby was not short of controversy, with Antony being labeled as "ridiculous" by Gary Neville for his actions towards the end of the game. Online fans also expressed anger at referee Paul Tierney for not punishing Jack Grealish after a shove on Sofyan Amrabat. Despite the defeat, Manchester United remains eighth in the Premier League table.
