Racing Stars and Fans Rally to Support Injured Jockey Graham Lee, Raising Over £30,000

The Horse Racing Community Comes Together

The tight-knit horse racing family has joined forces to raise an impressive £30,000, and counting, in support of injured jockey Graham Lee. The 47-year-old Grand National hero remains in critical condition after a devastating fall at Newcastle last Friday night.

A Just Giving Page Makes a Difference

Lee's daughter, Amy, took action by creating a Just Giving page on Monday, calling upon the racing community and fans to contribute. The response has been overwhelming, with thousands of people sharing and donating. As of Tuesday morning, the total amount raised surpassed £30,000.

Support from Racing Stars and Fans

The generosity and solidarity of racing stars and fans have been heartwarming. Fellow jockeys Oisin Murphy, Rossa Ryan, and Saffie Osborne, as well as trainers, owners, racing chiefs, and fans, have all made donations and left messages of support for Lee.

AP McCoy's Devastation

AP McCoy, the 20-time champion jockey and president of the Injured Jockey's Fund, expressed his deep sorrow upon hearing of Lee's injury. He assured everyone that the IJF would provide the necessary support for Lee's recovery and wellbeing, emphasizing that they would be there for him and his family every step of the way.

Lee's Injuries and Accomplishments

Lee suffered an unstable cervical fracture and spinal cord damage from the fall. He is currently in intensive care at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Throughout his career, Lee achieved remarkable success, including winning the Grand National in 2004 on Amberleigh House and capturing Group 1 victories in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and the Nunthorpe Stakes.
