South Korean national team player and Norwich forward, Hwang Ui-jo, has been suspended following allegations that he filmed an illegal sex tape with his ex-girlfriend. The 31-year-old denies the accusation, but the Korea Football Association's ethics committee has decided to suspend him until a clear conclusion is reached.
South Korea's Decision
The Korea Football Association's ethics committee has released a statement confirming Hwang's suspension from the national team. The committee has decided not to select him until the police inquiry into the matter is resolved. South Korea's first game in the upcoming Asian Cup is against Bahrain on January 15, and Hwang's absence will be a blow to the team.
Norwich's Response
Norwich, who signed Hwang on loan from Nottingham Forest at the beginning of the season, is aware of the allegations and will continue to monitor the situation as it develops.
Player's Performance
Hwang has been a key player for South Korea, scoring 18 goals in 60 caps. He recently came off the bench in their World Cup qualifiers, scoring a goal against Singapore. At the club level, he has scored three goals and provided one assist in 14 games for Norwich.
