Montpellier Manager Slams Thierry Henrys Criticism of Ligue 1

Arsenal Legend Calls French League "Boring"

Thierry Henry, the former Arsenal legend and current manager of the France U21 team, recently made headlines with his criticism of Ligue 1. He labeled the French first division as "boring" due to a string of low-scoring games.

Lack of Goals and Action

Ligue 1 has witnessed a mere 25 goals scored in the last 17 games, with nine of those games featuring no more than one goal. In contrast, the Premier League has seen ten teams score more than 17 goals this season. Henry believes that the problem goes beyond just the lack of goals, stating, "There is no action, no shots on target."

Manager Fires Back

Michel Der Zakarian, the manager of Montpellier, has strongly criticized Henry's comments. Der Zakarian's team has scored 15 goals in 12 league games and currently sits in 12th place. He referred to Henry's thoughts as "nonsense" and took a swipe at his short tenure at Monaco. Der Zakarian questioned Henry's credibility, asking, "Where has he managed? What did he do at AS Monaco?"

Henry's Managerial Record

Henry previously managed Monaco for just 20 games before moving to the MLS to coach Montreal. He is now the manager of the France U21 team and has started off with four wins and one loss in his first five games. However, his victories have come against nations that are considered weaker opponents, such as Cyprus, Bosnia, and Slovenia.
