Moving On from F1
Mick Schumacher, the son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, will be leaving the world of F1 to race for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship in 2024.
New Opportunity
After losing his F1 seat at Haas to Nico Hulkenberg, Schumacher has struggled to find a chance to race behind Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell as a reserve driver for McLaren and Mercedes. However, he has now signed a deal with Alpine and will compete in the FIA WEC's Hypercar class next year.
A Different Format
In the World Endurance Championship, teams race with just one car and are usually made up of a group of drivers who take turns driving during the six- to eight-hour races. The highlight of the championship is the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
Schumacher's Excitement
Mick Schumacher expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge, saying, "I sorely missed racing this year; it's what I've loved to do since I was a kid. Endurance racing is a new challenge for me, and I'm sure we will share great moments together next year with Alpine."

F1 Career
Schumacher participated in 43 Formula 1 races with Haas between 2021 and 2022. However, he faced setbacks due to high-profile crashes and not being able to match the performance of his teammate Kevin Magnussen. Despite leaving F1, Schumacher is likely to retain his role as test and reserve driver at Mercedes.
Following in His Father's Footsteps
Mick Schumacher's father, Michael Schumacher, also competed in endurance racing with Sauber-Mercedes before making his debut in Formula 1. Michael has not been seen in public since his skiing accident in 2013.
