Jurgen Klopp Slams Amazon Prime Presenter Over Kick-off Time Joke

Jurgen Klopp Slams Amazon Prime Presenter Over Kick-off Time Joke

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's manager, didn't hold back after an innocent joke made by Marcus Buckland, an Amazon Prime presenter, about Liverpool's latest 12.30pm kick-off time. Klopp's team secured a 2-0 victory against Sheffield United, but the celebration was short-lived as Klopp revealed that defender Joel Matip had suffered an ACL rupture. Klopp expressed his frustration when Buckland mentioned that Liverpool's upcoming match against Crystal Palace also had a lunch-time kick-off, a topic that Klopp has previously complained about.

A Brave Joke?

Marcus Buckland, from Amazon Prime, jokingly asked Klopp about his thoughts on Liverpool's visit to Selhurst Park, scheduled for Saturday, with another early kick-off time. Klopp responded sharply, stating, "That's really brave to make a joke about that. We go home, I don't know exactly what time we will get home, we will arrive, maybe 1am-2am tonight and then play again. We have two sessions." Buckland quickly clarified that he didn't mean to be disrespectful, but Klopp maintained that the joke was already disrespectful and accused Buckland of ignorance.

Injury Blow for Matip

Liverpool's victory against Sheffield United was overshadowed by the news of Joel Matip's ACL rupture, which is likely to keep him out for the rest of the season. Klopp expressed his disappointment at the injury but also acknowledged his satisfaction with the result. He stated, "It is an ACL rupture. It looks like that. It is very unfortunate. But I am really pleased with the result. I don't want to be overly critical as I know we can play better football, but this time of year you play, hopefully win, and hopefully recover."

A Warm Welcome for Boss Wilder

Chris Wilder's return as boss for Sheffield United was met with a warm reception by the supporters. Wilder replaced Paul Heckingbottom and expressed his gratitude to the fans, saying, "It will stay with me forever and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. It has been a long time away. I understand some supporters think it is a mistake, me coming back, so I have to earn their support. I am disappointed we did not get something out of the game."
