Jose Mourinho claims Man Utd still have players he wanted to get rid of when he was manager

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that the club still has some of the players he wanted to offload during his time in charge. Mourinho led United to Europa League and Carabao Cup victories in his first season, but was sacked in December 2018 despite finishing second in the Premier League the previous season. Speaking on John Obi Mikel's 'Obi One' podcast, Mourinho stated that there are still individuals at the club who he believes are hindering their success.

Mourinho criticizes player and non-player personnel

Mourinho did not specifically name the players or non-players he was referring to, but he expressed his frustration with their presence at the club. He said, "There are still people in that club, and when I say people I mean some players. But also some other people that are not players, that are still there when I told [United] after two months: With these people, you are never going to do it [be successful]. And they are still there."

Mourinho praises former CEO and reflects on his time at United

Despite his criticism of certain individuals, Mourinho had positive words for former United CEO Richard Arnold, who recently left the club. Mourinho described Arnold as an "amazing person" and stated that he would have liked to have had him as part of his team during his time as manager. Reflecting on his tenure at United, Mourinho said he has no regrets and believes he gave his all for the club. He also mentioned the support he received from the fans, particularly during a visit to Old Trafford as a commentator.

United's upcoming match and Mourinho's future

Manchester United will be in action this weekend as they face West Ham United at the London Stadium. As for Mourinho, he is currently the manager of Roma and will be focused on leading his new team to success in the Serie A.
