Jonny Castro Otto's Wolves Future in Jeopardy After Training Ground Incident

Jonny Castro Ottos Wolves Future in Jeopardy After Training Ground Incident

Jonny Castro Otto's future with Wolverhampton Wanderers is uncertain after he was excluded from the training ground following an incident. The 29-year-old Spain international was involved in the incident last week, which led to his exclusion from the squad in Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Arsenal.

Training Ground Incident

Head coach Gary O'Neil confirmed that Jonny will not be included in the squad for tomorrow night's game against Burnley, as well as several games beyond that. O'Neil stated, "Jonny won't be in the squad. There was a training ground incident last week that's being dealt with by the club. If - or when - he's back available, we'll let everybody know. At this moment in time, he won't be available for the coming games."

O'Neil declined to provide further details about the incident, stating that these things happen at training grounds and football clubs frequently. He assured that the club is handling the situation, and an update will be provided once Jonny is back with the team.

Journey at Wolves

Jonny joined Wolverhampton Wanderers initially on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2018. He has made 134 appearances in all competitions for the club, with his last game being on September 30 in the 2-1 win against Manchester City. However, this season he has played only one Premier League game, as he has faced competition from other players in his position.

Jonny's contract with Wolves runs until June 2025. The club signed him after he returned from ACL injuries twice. He can operate on either flank, but this season he has played a backup role to other players.

Burnley's False Position

Looking ahead to the upcoming game against Burnley, O'Neil believes that their opponents are in a false position in the league table. He stated, "Results would have been worse than they'd have wanted, but performances have given them opportunities to win games. They're extremely well organized with and without the ball and they look like they know what's being asked of them."

O'Neil also praised Burnley's coach, Vincent Kompany, for his excellent coaching and the club's transfer window business to suit Kompany's needs.

Midfielders Return From Suspension

Wolves will welcome back two midfielders, Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes, from suspension. They will face Burnley in the first of two home games this week, with Nottingham Forest as their next opponent on Saturday.
