Veteran Felipe Melo Claims Grealish Provoked Kyle Walker Melee

Jack Grealish has fired back at claims made by Fluminense veteran Felipe Melo that he taunted the Brazilian team's players during the Club World Cup Final. The Man City star became Public Enemy No1 in Rio after a heated confrontation with Melo, who was ultimately dragged off by Kyle Walker at the final whistle. Melo alleged that Grealish had been mocking his teammate Martinelli during City's 4-0 victory.

Grealish Denies Claims and Defends His Actions

Jack Grealish has categorically denied the accusations made by Felipe Melo and other Fluminense players. Melo called Grealish a coward for not facing him directly and labeled him disrespectful towards the Fluminense institution. Grealish, however, maintains that he did not taunt anyone and did not say 'ole' during the match. He was surrounded by his teammates, including Erling Haaland, as he left the stadium.

Fluminense Players Condemn Grealish's Alleged Behavior

While Grealish denies the claims, other Fluminense players have spoken out against his alleged behavior. Former Real Madrid legend Marcelo criticized Grealish, highlighting his own four-time victory in the same competition as evidence of his superior sportsmanship. Colombian player Jhon Arias also condemned Grealish's actions, stating that they lacked the behavior of a true sportsman.

Grealish Made Aware of Allegations Before Manchester Flight

Jack Grealish was informed about the accusations made against him just before City's flight back to Manchester. The team's departure was delayed due to heavy rain. Grealish, along with his teammates, left the stadium surrounded by a protective entourage. Grealish responded to the claims on X, formerly Twitter, stating that he never said 'ole' during the match.
