End of an Era
Beloved British racecourse, Newbury, has recently made a significant change by signing a five-year broadcasting deal with Sky Sports Racing. Starting from January 1, 2024, Newbury racecourse will no longer be shown on subscription channel Racing TV.
Exciting Future Ahead
The deal, which was originally signed in July 2021, has now officially come into place. All 29 meetings scheduled for this year will be broadcasted on Sky Sports Racing, providing wider access to fans across the UK. This new agreement is seen as a positive step towards the racecourse's long-term values and aspirations for the business.
Farewell to Racing TV
The departure from Racing TV was marked by popular TV presenter Nick Luck bidding farewell to Newbury racecourse during the Challow Hurdle event. Luck expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Racing TV and wished Sky Sports Racing the best of luck in taking over the broadcasting rights.
Benefits of the Partnership
Newbury CEO Julian Thick, who brokered the deal, highlighted the attractive platform that Sky Sports Racing offers. With a reach of 14 million homes and a strong digital presence, the partnership provides extensive brand exposure and cross-promotional opportunities within the larger Sky family.
