Graham Potter in Line for Shock Return to English Football

Graham Potter Among Candidates for Stoke Manager Role

Graham Potter, the former Chelsea boss, is being considered for a surprise return to English football. He is on Stoke's "highly ambitious" shortlist to replace Alex Neil, who was recently sacked. According to The Sentinel, Potter is among the top contenders for the Championship club's managerial position.

Supporters Call for Potter's Appointment

Following Neil's departure, supporters were quick to call for Potter's appointment. The 48-year-old has a history with Stoke, having spent three years as a player for the club. He also expressed interest in the role back in 2018 when Stoke were still in the Premier League and he was managing Ostersunds in Sweden.

Competition from Other Candidates

Stoke's shortlist for the manager role also includes ex-captain John Eustace, former Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray, Plymouth gaffer Steven Schumacher, and sacked Rangers manager Michael Beale. The club is determined to find the right person to turn their fortunes around.

Potter's Recent Career

Potter has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April. He has attracted interest from other clubs, including Lyon and Leicester, but has yet to secure a new position. He recently turned down the chance to manage the Swedish national team and has been tipped as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag if the Manchester United manager is axed.
