Former Tottenham and England striker Darren Bent slams Arsenal star Kai Havertz for lackluster performance

Former Tottenham and England striker Darren Bent has criticized Arsenal's Kai Havertz for failing to make a substantial impact on the team.

Havertz, who was signed from Chelsea in a big-money deal over the summer, has only managed to score one goal this season, which came from a penalty against Bournemouth.

Havertz's underwhelming performance

Despite being given the opportunity to impress in Arsenal's recent Carabao Cup match against West Ham, Havertz failed to contribute significantly as the Gunners suffered a 3-1 defeat at the London Stadium.

Expressing his disappointment, Bent took to Twitter after the game, questioning the reasoning behind Arsenal's £65 million investment in Havertz and criticizing the lack of substantial impact he has made on the team so far this season.

Question marks over Havertz's role

Havertz, 24, has faced considerable criticism since his move to Arsenal, with many unsure of where he fits into manager Mikel Arteta's plans. Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf even suggested that Havertz's best position might be on the bench, so as not to disrupt his teammates on the field.

Former Arsenal captain William Gallas echoed Bent's sentiments, stating that he has not been impressed with Havertz's performances since his arrival at the club. Gallas believes that Havertz has yet to prove himself and questions whether Arsenal made a mistake in signing him.

Time is of the essence

Gallas also emphasized the urgency for Arsenal to start getting results quickly, highlighting that the club does not have the luxury of time. As Havertz has already spent three years in the Premier League with Chelsea, Gallas believes he should have adapted to a new team more swiftly, especially considering that he already lived in London.

Immediate impact expected

Gallas concluded by stating that players need to adapt immediately in order to succeed, as they don't have the luxury of time. He expressed doubt that Havertz will be able to meet the expectations of scoring at least 15 goals in a season, given Arsenal's need for immediate results.
