Former Fulham Defender Slams "Obscene" Ticket Prices at Craven Cottage

Former Fulham Defender Slams Obscene Ticket Prices at Craven Cottage

Former Fulham defender Paul Parker has launched a scathing attack on the "obscene" ticket prices at Craven Cottage this season. Parker, who watched his old team Manchester United win 1-0 in West London on Saturday, expressed his anger at the high cost of tickets for fans.

Outrageous Prices

According to Parker, fans are expected to pay anything up to £140-£160 to watch games at Craven Cottage. He believes that this is insulting to both Fulham and football fans in general. Despite not being considered a "Big Six" club in the Premier League, Parker argues that the die-hard fans at Fulham deserve to be treated better.

Protests and Disappointing Match

Parker was delighted to see Fulham fans protest against the price hikes by holding up yellow cards during the match against Manchester United. He was also pleased that some United fans joined in. However, Parker did not find the match itself entertaining, describing it as a "drab" affair that was heading for a goalless draw until Bruno Fernandes' late winner for United.

Unfair Treatment

Parker's main gripe is that fans are expected to pay exorbitant prices for what he considers to be a second-rate game of football. He argues that these extreme prices are not justified, especially given the current cost of living in the country. Parker questions how clubs can justify increasing ticket prices by 18% when fans are already paying so much for an event that should be elite.

Player Attitudes

In addition to his criticism of ticket prices, Parker also took a swipe at footballers who "down tools" and stop playing for the manager. He finds it alarming that players would intentionally underperform in the hope of getting the manager sacked, only to return to their best once a new manager is appointed. Parker believes this mindset goes against the principles of football as a team sport and shows a lack of respect for teammates and fans.

Parker's fishing TV series

In other news, Paul Parker will be joining former Fulham teammate Tony Gale in a new fishing TV series. The show will be filmed at The Ebro river in the Iberian Peninsula in Spain next week.
