Shocking Decision
Eric Bailly, the former Manchester United star, has been banished by Besiktas, leading his agent to claim that his "rights are being violated." Despite only signing for the Turkish side 98 days ago, Bailly was among five players axed this month. The decision was reportedly due to poor performance and incompatibilities within the team.
Agent's Reaction
Rafaela Pimenta, Bailly's agent, expressed shock at the decision and stated that the player has done nothing wrong. Pimenta vowed to protect Bailly's rights and is preparing a response. Besiktas has not cancelled Bailly's contract, but he, along with four other players, has been made to train away from the first-team squad for the foreseeable future.
Bailly's Career Path
Bailly, 29, has struggled with injuries this season, making only eight appearances for Besiktas. The Ivory Coast defender joined Manchester United in 2016 and was a key figure under former managers Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He won the League Cup and Europa League during his first season at Old Trafford but has faced numerous injury setbacks in recent years.
Failed Transfer and Resurrection
After being deemed surplus to requirements at United, Bailly was loaned out to Marseille in France last season. He still had a year remaining on his £80,000-a-week contract when he was made available for transfer in the summer. Bailly held talks with Al-Nassr to join former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, but the deal fell through. Ultimately, he signed a one-year contract with Besiktas in an attempt to resurrect his career.

Besiktas, currently managed by Riza Calimbay, sits fifth in the Turkish top flight. The club's president, Hasan Arat, has stated that their main priority is to build a better team and fill the gaps in the squad during the winter break.
