Heading to Ally Pally for the World Darts Championship
Stowe Buntz, crane manager and rising star in North American darts, emerged victorious against Peter Wright at November's Grand Slam of Darts. Despite this impressive win, Buntz has no plans to turn professional just yet. However, he is set to compete at the 2023/24 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, which kicks off at Ally Pally this week.
Matchup Against Dutch Debutant Kevin Doets
Buntz, aged 44, will face Dutch debutant Kevin Doets in the opening match of the tournament on Friday, December 15th. The winner of this match will go on to challenge the reigning champion, Michael Smith, later in the evening.
No Immediate Plans to Turn Pro
Buntz, who hails from Portsmouth, Virginia, has been working as a crane and rigging manager for nearly 25 years. Despite his recent success in the darts world, Buntz has stated that he is not currently considering a professional career. His top priority at the moment is ensuring the education and well-being of his children.
Inspired by Peter Wright's Attire
Buntz, who now goes by the nickname "Neon Nightmare," looks up to Peter Wright and admires his colorful attire. He considers Wright to be one of his favorite players and beating him at the Grand Slam of Darts was a dream come true.

Impressive Rise in the Darts Scene
Buntz only entered the darts scene 18 months ago but has already achieved notable success. In August, he won three consecutive ProTour titles, which secured him a spot in the World Championship. He followed this up with a victory at the CDC Continental Cup in October. Now, Buntz is ready to make his mark at Ally Pally.
