Aggressive Confrontation
Former Chelsea player Matt Miazga has faced consequences for his actions after storming into the referee's dressing room. The FC Cincinnati defender has been hit with a three-match ban and an undisclosed fine.
Provocative Celebration
Miazga received a second booking during a penalty shootout against his former club, New York Red Bulls, for taunting opposition fans after successfully converting his spot-kick. Despite Cincinnati's victory in the shootout, it seems the win didn't cool Miazga down.
Referee Confrontation
After the match, Miazga charged into the officials' area and had to be escorted out by security. The Professional Soccer Referees Association (PSRA) in the United States stated that Miazga "acted in an aggressive and hostile manner."
Match Suspensions
As a result of his actions, Miazga will be unable to play in the Eastern Conference final against Columbus Crew due to his three-game ban. Additionally, if Cincinnati advances to the MLS Cup final against Los Angeles FC or Houston Dynamo, Miazga will also be suspended from that match.

Chelsea Stint and Current Success
Miazga was a part of Chelsea from 2016 to 2022 but made only two appearances for the club. He spent the majority of his time on loan to Vitesse, Nantes, Reading, Anderlecht, and Alaves. Now back in the United States, the 28-year-old has made an impression this season, earning the title of MLS Defender of the Year.
Assessment Required
As part of the league's Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health initiative, Miazga will also have to undergo an assessment.
