Rishi Sunak dismisses rumors of early general election, focuses on delivering for the people

On the third day of the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, Rishi Sunak has firmly denied speculations of calling an early general election. The Prime Minister emphasized that going to the polls soon is "not what anybody wants." Instead, he is focused on "getting on and delivering for people."

Working for the people

Sunak expressed that the country's priority should be politicians making a positive difference in people's lives. He stated, "That's not what anybody wants. What people want is politicians making a difference to their lives." He further mentioned that he is not afraid of holding an election, which must be held by January 2025 at the latest.

Regarding his dedication to serving the nation, Sunak said, "I'm just getting on and delivering for people. You can see it with our progress on bringing inflation down, helping people. You can see it with a long-term workforce plan, hiring doctors and nurses for the future. These are all things that are going to change our country for the better."

The road ahead

Tomorrow, Mr. Sunak is set to deliver his major conference speech, which could prove to be a make or break moment for the PM. During his speech, he will aim to present an appealing vision of the future to the country, Tory members, and MPs.
