Britain Signs Major Trade Deal with Florida to Boost Space Industry

Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch Strikes Deal with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch has signed a major pact to boost trade with Florida, home to the NASA Kennedy Space Centre. The deal, signed with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, aims to make it quicker and easier for British firms to do business with the space sector targeted. With a GDP standing at over £1.1 trillion, roughly the same size as Spain, Florida offers huge potential for the UK’s rapidly expanding tech sector to develop.

Florida's High-Tech Companies Offer Huge Opportunities for UK

In signing the trade deal, Badenoch emphasized the significance of Florida as a major economy, highlighting that it has a bigger GDP than most European countries. She stated that Florida’s leading high-tech companies, whether launching satellites or developing fintech software, present enormous opportunities for the UK’s tech sector to thrive.

UK Expanding Trade with US States

The trade deal with Florida marks the UK’s seventh deal with a US state, bringing their combined GDP to £3.3 trillion. Badenoch has been actively pushing for more state-by-state mini deals, aiming to boost trade and create more jobs. Last September, she embarked on her first trade mission to the US, where she met with Bloomberg and Microsoft and held trade talks with US representative Katherine Tai.
